Training Staff

Mike Liezert
Mike Liezert

Coach Liezert holds a USSF National 'D' license and has been the Director of the Medina Rangers since 2004.  Coach Liezert has coached at the youth level from ages U5-U14, and is currently on staff as a professional trainer with both the Medina Rangers and is president of the Ohio Rush Soccer Club.  Coach Liezert has an extensive playing career that has spanned over 25 years.  A native of Medina, as a youth he played for the Medina Rangers and on the Busch East/West Premier club (one of the first premier teams in Northeast Ohio), played at Medina High School, at Miami University of Ohio, and as an adult in the Lake Erie and NOASA Division 1 men's leagues; he continues to play in various leagues today.  Coach Liezert was named Ohio Youth Soccer Association North (OYSAN) 2009 Coach of the Year.  He resides in Medina with his wife Tami and their two kids.  For Fall 2011 he will be training with the U11's and U12's.

 

Tim Pelton
Tim Pelton

Coach Pelton has played and coached soccer nearly all his life in and around Medina.  He grew up in Medina and played for the Medina Rangers as a youth, and went on to Medina High School where he was a key player on several District and Conference Championship teams.  He also played on several Premier Youth clubs, including the Busch East/West Premier and Excaliber Premier.  He continued on during college playing club soccer at the University of Cincinnati as well as various Amatuer Division 1 clubs in SW Ohio, and got his first opportunity with coaching youth during his college years.  Coach Pelton has been a Medina Rangers professional trainer and coach for the last 7 years, and has coached at the youth level in Medina from ages U5 to U14.  He is also currently on staff as a coach and professional trainer for the Ohio Rush Sccer Club, and holds a USSF National 'D' license.  He resides in Medina with his wife Anita and their three kids.  For Fall 2011 he will be training with the U8's, U9's and U10's.

 

Tim Prostor
Prostor

Coach Prostor has played and coached soccer for over 25 years, getting his first taste of coaching as a high school player coaching youth for the Solon Recreation Department in 1984 and 1985.  He has coached at the Youth level in the Medina Soccer Association for ages U5 - U12 for both Recreation and Select teams for the last 6 years, and at the Divison 1 Travel level with the Medina Rangers the last 3 years.   He is currently on staff as a professional trainer with the Medina Rangers and holds a USSF National 'D' license.  Coach Prostor was a standout player for Solon High School, where he was a 1st Team All-league selection; during his college years he played some club soccer at Miami University of Ohio and in the Collegiate Division of the Ohio Soccer Association - North (OSA-N).   As an adult he continues to play in the Northeast Ohio Amateur Soccer Association (NOASA) and various indoor leagues.  He resides in Medina with his wife Kelly and their son.  For Fall 2011 he will be training with the U8's, U9's and U10's.

 

Frank Horvath

As former Oberlin High School Boys Varsity Head Coach, Coach Horvath compiled over 70 wins, 2 conference championships, 2 Greater Cleveland Coach of the Year Awards, and numerous conference and county coaching awards.  He coached 4 All-Ohio, 2 All- region, and 1 All-American in his 8 years at the helm.  Coach Horvath has coached at the youth club level from ages U5 – U17.  Horvath was an all region player and 1st team All Ohio player in high school; he followed that by playing in the top local Lake Erie League Majors Division.  Coach Horvath holds a USSF National 'D' license, and has worked the past 3 years as a professional trainer for the Medina Rangers program, and is currently on staff as a professional trainer and coach with the Ohio Rush Soccer Club
For Fall 2011 he will be training with the U11's and U12's.

 

Ian Jones
Ian Jones 

Coach Jones holds a USSF National “D” License. He has been the Director of Medina Classics since 2004, and has been a coach with the Classics program since 1995. He has served numerous positions on the Medina Soccer Association Board since 1998. For Fall 2011 Ian will be training with the U9's and U10's. 

 

Mark Malikowski

Coach Malikowski holds a USSF "C" license and a National Diploma from the NSCAA. He has coached the Medina HS Boys Team for the last 10 seasons as well as a three year stint with the Medina HS girls prior to that. He has been a staff coach with the Medina Rangers for each of those 13 years. During his HS coaching tenure, Coach Malikowski has worked on the Ohio North Staff conducting coaching license courses as well as working with the Olympic Development Program on both the boys and girls side.

Prior to his time in Ohio, Coach Malikowski played college soccer at The University of Buffalo and coached the Hilbert College Women's Team for three seasons. He currently resides in Chippewa Lake with his wife Shannon and their two children.  For Fall 2011 he will be training and coaching with the U14's.
